  • Technical Difficulties?

If your child experienced technical difficulties, please contact your child's teacher by sending an email including the reason (i.e. could not log in) for your child's absence from class. Technical difficulties will be considered an excused absence.  Students may make up all missed work.

PGCPS Distance Learning Hotline will provide live assistance to parents/families in order to address and resolve concerns arising during the period of Distance Learning for students.   Starting August 31, 2020, parents can call 240-696-6229 on Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM for live assistance for technical/equipment issues and/or instructional guidance and support.

    Parent Distance Learning Support Centers

Purpose: PGCPS will launch nine new Parent Support Centers on August 31, 2020.  As we are currently operating in a fully virtual learning environment, it is especially critical that we provide a bridge between families and the schoolhouse.  Under the direction of the Department of Family and School Partnerships, the Parent Support Centers will assist parents, guardians and caregivers - by appointment only - with technology, accessing and navigating platforms, and other troubleshooting such as navigating aspects of distance learning or accessing instructional packets.

Locations: There will be a Parent Distance Learning Support Center located in each Board of Education District.

Operations: Each support center will be staffed with a Site Coordinator who has an in-depth knowledge of district procedures/programs and a desire to help parents navigate Distance Learning.  Current staff serving as Site Coordinators include the Specialists from the Department of Family and School Partnerships, Specialists from Curriculum and Instruction, Information/Instructional Technology Specialists and Parent Engagement Assistants. Each site will also have bilingual (Spanish) interpreters available.  Additionally, each site will implement cleaning between visits and ensure PPE is worn by all participants in the center.  No children will be permitted to enter the center in support of PGCPS efforts to keep children safe.

Appointments: Beginning on August 31, 2020, parents may schedule a 30-minute appointment by calling the Parent Support Center Line: 240-696-3315 or the Parent Distance Learning Hotline: 240-696-6229.  Other opportunities to schedule an appointment will be provided on the school system's website and Facebook page.

Visitors should arrive at their designated appointment time and will be instructed that only one person may enter the facility per family and children may not enter the facility.
