Senior Spotlight: DuVal High School Senior Jeremy Kiggundu

Jeremy Kiggundu, a senior in the Aerospace Program at DuVal High School, is well on his way to pursuing his dreams. With a job offer from the U.S. Department of Defense already on the table, a future in engineering is just around the corner. Jeremy, who’s also interested in computer science, imagines a career in public service working for the United Nations or serving as an advisor to a future U.S. President.

A member of the National Honor Society, Mock Trial Team and an Aerospace Ambassador, Jeremy holds a 3.90 GPA with a course load including Advanced Placement English Language, Government, Human Geography and World History.

After participating in the 2019 Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab ASPIRE internship program, Jeremy was invited to present his research at the 2019 Integrated STEM Education Conference at Princeton University. Conference organizers at Princeton were so impressed that they published Jeremy's research, a dive into how the developing complexity of cyberspace has provoked the need for increased security methods to protect users and information, with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

In addition to excelling academically, Jeremy is a young entrepreneur and leader in his community.

He recently joined PGCPS CEO Dr. Monica Goldson in Annapolis to advocate for equitable school funding and share his experiences and aspirations. He is also a creator of Fiveable, a website that helps students prepare for Advanced Placement exams.

Jeremy enjoys volunteering in his community, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.
