    Maryland Home Grown Lunch Week

     September 23rd - 27th

The Farm to School Program, developed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) will bring more Maryland-grown produce to school meals with Maryland Home Grown School Lunch Week. In addition to supporting local farmers, the program educates students about where their food comes from, how it is produced, and the benefits of a healthy diet.

Prince George’s County Public Schools Department of Food and Nutrition Services purchases locally grown produce throughout the year. For Maryland Home Grown Week, we will feature the following Maryland grown produce from nearby farms within our Elementary and Secondary Meal Programs:

    •  Apples from Baugher's Orchards
    •  Kale, Cabbage, Watermelon and Peppers from Miller Farms

Check out our  menus and look for "locally grown" to see when the above local produce is offered.
