POSITION SUMMARY: Under the Coordinating Supervisor, the Teacher Coordinator will support the successful implementation and management of Military Science, Information Technology (IT) and Homeland Security Emergency Preparedness (HSEP). The Teacher Coordinator has the overall responsibility for ensuring the implementation and coordination of the duties and responsibilities necessary for the success of each program within the schools to which they are assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serving as the
liaison between the school sites assigned and the Coordinating Supervisor; Assisting with media
relations, marketing materials, advisory boards, and general outreach as it
relates to the Military Science, IT and HSEP; Assisting with grant
applications related to Military Science, IT and HSEP programming; Planning, conducting,
and/or coordinating professional development for Military Science, IT and HSEP staff; Working with and
supporting teachers to ensure that the Military Science, IT and HSEP curriculum
is followed and ascertain their instructional needs; Assisting the Coordinating
Supervisor in the development and administration of the Military Science, IT
and HSEP programs budget including local and grant funding; Collecting and
analyzing Military Science, IT and HSEP programming data and preparing an
annual report on the programs; Serving as a liaison
to school staff to ensure that the Military Science, IT and HSEP programs are
implemented with fidelity and that the programs of study are followed; Planning career
opportunities for students such as guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing,
internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential opportunities in
collaboration with school staff and the Advisory Board; Assist with and
manage curriculum writing for Military Science, IT and HSEP programs to align
with MSDE, national standards, and PGCPS requirements; Develop and process
all orders for Military Science, IT and HSEP program improvement and
maintenance; Develop and implement
all Military Science, IT and HSEP program improvement initiatives; Facilitate
professional development for teachers in collaboration with the Academy
Coordinator; Assist with the
recruitment of students; Coordinate with
Academy Homeland Security and Military Science Coordinator to align programming
efforts and support Academy teachers and students; Attend and assist
with Academy Homeland Security and Military Science strategic planning, team
meetings, and professional development; and
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of industry standards and MSDE, PGCPS and Military Science, IT
and HSEP program curriculum and
instruction; Military and/or Military Science experience; Relates positively and interacts effectively with teachers, central
office personnel, Advisory Board members, business partners, and general
public; Maintains accurate financial, inventory, and student data records; Effective
time management, documentation and organizational skills; Demonstrated
ability to develop and manage teams; Excellent
written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability
to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language; Highly
self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail; Ability
to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure; Extensive
experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; Strong
instructional and facilitator skills; Experience
in collaborative planning and providing professional development; Demonstrated
strong leadership and administrative competency; and Proficiency
with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in applicable field; experience working in a vocational education setting; five (5) years teaching in academic or vocational education required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct supervisory responsibilities.
