POSITION SUMMARY:  Demonstrate extensive knowledge and practical application of behavioral principles and instructional practices, methods and strategies, including classroom management based on positive reinforcement; and maintain personal qualities of leadership, integrity, and fairness.  Utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods to assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the multimedia production program.  Develop and implement lessons to teach skills required to master video, television, DVD, and computer applications and competencies related to multimedia production.  Provide group and individual instruction using effective teaching strategies, instructional materials and equipment. Develop and maintain an appropriate training site for student instruction, including a statement of the student performance objectives to be achieved.    

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Prepare lessons based on defined units of study and course standards;

Manage project-based work with students in a studio and post production facility, as they progress through the units of study;

Prepare assessments to measure student learning and growth in their understanding of television production;

Grade students based on performance and traditional assessments;

Set expectations for responsible use of equipment and facilities;

Interact and work with students to help them meet project timelines and expectations;

Use the multimedia facilities (Mac lab) to enhance the lessons and course expectations;

To provide technical support services for the media equipment and technology;

Coordinates and maintains equipment inventory;

Organize environment and instruction to facilitate learning;

Write lesson plans for individual and group instruction; and

Use diverse teaching strategies to meet students' learning styles, abilities, and interests.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Media equipment and technology, operating techniques, and quality standards;

Techniques and procedures for trouble-shooting and maintenance of media equipment, computers, peripherals, and software applications;

Computer graphics software application packages and development techniques;

Current principles and practices of multimedia presentations;

Media work in an academic environment;

Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications; Windows, Adobe and Macintosh graphics applications; and other multimedia software application packages;

Multimedia Production theory and applications in the following areas:

Television, video, DVD, radio, and/or other multimedia industries;

Advanced multimedia production utilizing various software programs and graphics;

Web page development and design;

Television and radio program production;

Video and/or DVD production;

Curriculum and instructional practices; and

Current industry trends, methodology and practices.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:   Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or higher required from an accredited institution with a concentration of Radio-Television-Film, Television Production, Mass Communications, or related field, with a minimum 3 years' experience of successful Instrumental Music Teaching, including Proficient or higher Assessment Festival Ratings.  Secondary Experience preferred.    

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   Holds or is eligible for a Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.  Maryland State Teaching Certificate (APC preferred).  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Supervision of classroom paraprofessional(s) and dedicated or classroom assistants, if applicable.
