TalentReady

Overview

SQ-student-using-bandsaw.jpgTalentReady Prince George’s (“TalentReady”), is an early college partnership with Prince George’s Community College, Employ Prince George’s, Inc., four-year colleges and employer partners. It is designed to expand student access to college, prepare students for careers in information technology, and meet the growing demand for local IT talent in the nation’s capital. The program prepares students for one of four high school to career paths: software development, networking, data management, and cybersecurity.

Requirements to Enroll and Complete Program: Be in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Did You Know?

  • 1/3 of CTE Students can earn college credit and/or industry certification through CTE1
  • CTE Graduates earn significantly more than those who majored in academic fields2
  • 6 in 10 Students plan to pursue a career related to the CTE area they explored in high school.3
  • CTE Graduates with technical or applied science associates degrees out-earn bachelor’s degree holders by $11,000.4

To strengthen the IT workforce pipeline, this program includes outreach, engagement, and professional development opportunities developed in partnership with industry partners and an advisory board.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must be a rising 9th grade student whose boundary school is Largo High School.
  • Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • Students must be interested in Information Technology 
  • Students must complete the entire application for admissions, including the 200-400 word essay.
  • As part of the application, students must have two teacher references:
    • one from their current math teacher
    • one from an elective teacher
  • Students must attend the Summer Bridge Program, prior to beginning their 9th grade year at Largo High.
