    Meet the Counselor

At Middleton Valley Academy, my goal is to provide all of our students with a wealth of knowledge, skills and support to help them successfully navigate the virtual learning platforms utilized by Prince George’s County Schools during the 2020-2021 school year.

Statistics overwhelmingly show that parental involvement is the key to overall success of children. With instruction being virtual this year, your involvement will be critical in helping your child adapt and adjust to online instruction. Children whose parents are actively involved in their formal education undoubtedly have greater academic achievement. Additionally, children are more motivated when their parents show an interest. When schools and parents work together, students benefit tremendously academically, socially and emotionally.

Also, national statistics show that some children have a difficult time adapting to online instruction which could lead to frustration and anxiety. If you or your child have any concerns, please contact the school immediately.

As your child’s Professional School Counselor, I play an instrumental role in working directly with your child on their academic, career and emotional/social development. This year’s emphasis will be on providing classroom guidance lessons with focus on social-emotional learning. Due to COVID-19, I am aware that many of our students are having a difficult time managing their emotions. We’ll work through those emotions together, in classroom guidance and individually if necessary. If you should have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Together we can get through this!

    Respectfully,
