Scholar of the Week: Largo High School Senior Ma'kayla Cayard

Largo High School senior Ma’kayla Cayard speaks softly but carries a large stick — a drumstick to be exact. Currently the percussionists section leader, she also plays the cymbals and flute.

Ma’kayla holds a 4.167 GPA and takes Advanced Placement courses in World History, Biology and American Government/Politics. She is also a dual enrollment student at Prince George’s Community College.

Ma’kayla is a member of the National Honor Society and the Class of 2020 Student Council. Her love for helping and caring for others inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. She plans to attend North Carolina A & T University and enjoys hanging out with her friends in her spare time.
