Scholar of the Week: Academy of Health Sciences at PGCC Senior Samanta Popol

Samanta Popol, an impending published researcher, attends the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and holds a 4.37 GPA. As a dual enrollment student, Samanta has earned more than 20 college credits and 50 service learning hours. She is a member of the Future Health Professionals Club and STEM Collegian Center.

Samanta participated in an 8-week internship with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration where she worked alongside scientists to perform the extraction and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis of potential contaminants in infant formulas. Her love for medicine is attributed to exposure to health sciences, particularly anatomy and physiology at her school.

This future doctor plans to major in kinesiology or biology, with a minor in Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and listening to music.
