POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Supervisor of Instruction Support, the Textbook Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the district textbook office.  The incumbent will also oversee and guide staff to ensure compliance with all policies and practices related to Textbook management and distribution throughout the school district.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Purchases, distributes, and asset management responsibilities for instruction materials for the district;

 Negotiates with vendors regarding instructional materials;

Works with inventory companies to maintain the inventory of the school system;

Provides guidance to curriculum supervisors in the textbook adoption process;

Provides guidance to the district in the maintenance of instructional material inventories;

Maintains a database used to track textbooks in the Textbook Office;

Provides guidance to district employees on what instructional materials are available and how they are distributed;

Manages staff members assigned to the Textbook Office;

Re-distributes instructional materials from location to location, as necessary;

Attends meetings regarding materials of instruction;

Provides presentations and trainings regarding materials of instruction to school personnel;

Works with warehouse staff in order to adequately manage materials inventory and shipments; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 Considerable knowledge of the procurement process in regards to materials of instruction;

 Knowledge of asset management in an educational setting;

Considerable knowledge of asset management software and systems and the ability to maintain current inventory database;

Ability to perform negotiations with vendors in order to secure materials while remaining fiscally cognizant;

Willingness to conduct or attend in-services and meetings;

 Ability to work cooperatively as a team member;

 Effective management and administrative skills;

Effective human relations skills;

Good oral and written communications skills; and

Ability to use electronic communication tools.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required, with a minimum of five (5) years of professional development experience preferred

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


None Required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 Oversees Textbook Office Staff.
