POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Television Production Technician I is responsible for the technical operation of all television systems at the Office of Television and Web Resources including directing and editing television programs, assisting in the operations of TV Channels 96/38.  The incumbent operates and maintains a wide variety of equipment used in television production, works extensively with the instructional staff and students in the planning and execution of video productions assists in the supervision of technical crews   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Preparing graphics, non-linear editing, ENG shooting, DVC Pro formatting, lighting remotes and studio shooting, directing and serving on production crews;

Maintaining and operating a wide variety of equipment normally used in television production i.e., television cameras, time base correctors, character generators, special effects generators, on-line and off-line editing systems, etc.;

Assisting in the technical operation of all television systems at the office of Television Resources;

Operating and maintaining audio and video duplication equipment;

Coordinating, duplicating and distributing of video and audio tape;

Utilizing and maintaining current videotape library;

Assuming programming responsibility for Channel 96, and preparing all air tapes (editing);

Coordinating the operation of the “on-air “system, including minor maintenance of equipment and technical assistance in program preparation;

Coordinating operation of field production equipment, including storage and routine maintenance of equipment;

Assisting as required in the set-up and teardown of set construction and studio lighting;

Maintaining production supplies, such as lamps for studio lights, blank video and audio tape stock, etc.;

Shooting, editing and directing television programs; and

Operating a wide variety of equipment used in producing television programs. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Good knowledge of the methods and principles necessary to operate and maintain television equipment;

Good knowledge of the properties and characteristics of television equipment;

Ability to make adjustments necessary to obtain high quality sound and picture during taping and reply of tapes;

Ability to detect and remove or repair defective portions of videotapes;

Ability to operate a wide variety of equipment used in producing television programs;

Requires excellent television production skills including Avid non-linear editing and ENG camera experience; and

Knowledge of computer and video graphic skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Radio TV/Film, or other related field and minimum of two (2) years of professional experience is required; some experience in electronics maintenance and repair.
