POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Technical Academy Program Coordinator is responsible for management and leadership of the Technical Academy Program at the school level. The assigned worksite shall vary among seven technical academy school sites.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Supervising instruction in the technical academy programs to assure effectiveness of teaching and learning;

Coordinating student recruitment/enrollment into the technical academy programs;

Coordinating the maintenance and enhancement of technical academy program facilities at the assigned technical academies;

Participating in the countywide management steering committee for the technical academy programs;

Coordinating the articulation between the technical academy and academic programs at the assigned technical academy;

Promoting and monitoring technical academy student achievement in technical academy and academic programs;

Coordinating and supporting technical academy teacher involvement in work-based learning experiences for student;

Coordinating and facilitating open house orientations for parents and students of interest;

Conducting informal teacher/program observations;

Ordering equipment, supplies and materials for programs at various schools; and

Processing, assigning and notifying students of application status.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Ability to work effectively with Principals in order to implement and monitor programs;

Demonstrated leadership experiences in assessing needs and program implementation;

Excellent human relations skills; and

Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s  degree in applicable field; experience working in a vocational education setting; five (5) years teaching in academic or vocational education required.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.


 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
