POSITION SUMMARY:


Performs responsible and varied clerical work in the Purchasing and Supply Services Department under general direction of the Supervisor of Supply Services; follows established procedures but exercises some judgment in verifying, interpreting and checking entries and transactions. Assignments include the use of display terminal, computer and other office machines. Work is performed under general supervision.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Operates display terminal daily; maintains stock control over all items in an assigned group of commodities;

Prepares entry forms and inputs data through the display terminal; validates all data elements, checks computer generated transaction and error listing with input source documents; receives and analyzes daily control totals, status reports and special runs to determine instances of data rejection and other irregularities;

Traces errors in processing to discover the cause and the necessary corrective action to be taken; follows through with clerical staff to see that the job has been done in a timely and correct reprocessed; and

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Knowledge of supply terminology, procedures and equipment;

Ability to make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy;

Ability to operate display terminals, some skill in the use of a typewriter;

Ability to operate other office equipment;

Ability to maintain records and prepare reports from such records; ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees; and

Must be in good physical condition.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from high school or GED with previous experience in a supply function; display terminal experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
