POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the Supervisor – Instructional Support is responsible for monitoring summer school, textbooks, the Schoolmax course catalog, administrative procedures and executing administrative responsibilities, as required.  The Supervisor  assists the Chief Academic Officer in developing aligned curriculum programs, coordinating professional development for staff of summer school programs, and developing a budget based on analysis of needs.  Special assignments are received through conferences, written instructions, and requests from the Chief Academic Officer.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Working with all Directors, Supervisors, and Coordinating Supervisors on all facets of program planning and development and associated budgets (including grants) for summer school programs and the adoption of resources to support curriculum across the Division of Academics; 

Assisting with the coordination of all facets of curriculum and program evaluation for instructional programs and resources for the classroom for all content areas;

Assisting with the approval of courses for instructional programming PreK-12 for all content areas;

Supporting all facets of instructional programs by assisting each school with the development of a course catalog from approved courses;

Coordinating the review, approval, acquisition, and distribution of appropriate textbook materials and print and non-print resources to support staff and students;

Assisting schools with the inventory system and training for textbooks;

Assisting with providing ongoing interaction and articulation within and across the Division of Academics, other departments and divisions, and at the systemic level, emphasizing strategic planning and problem solving related to the revision and implementation of academic procedures;

Providing supervision and completing performance evaluations for assigned staff; and

Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Sound knowledge, skill and understanding related to the major content areas supported;

Demonstrated administrative, public speaking and human relations skills;

Demonstrated expertise in writing (required) and administering grants (preferred);

Knowledge of current research and trends in supporting areas;

Demonstrated competence in developing and leading staff development sessions for teachers and/or principals and parents;

Thorough knowledge of state standards, Common Core State Standards, assessments, and alternative assessments and resources to support them;

Experience in personnel and program evaluation;

Extensive expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional development programs and initiatives; and

Excellent written and oral communication and technology skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university required; experience working in an educational setting, preferably as a teacher, administrator or central office staff.

Assists in overseeing and providing guidance to the unit staff.
