POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Technology
Operations, the incumbent of this position provides Oracle Applications DBA and
Database Administration support for the school district’s Oracle E-Business
Suite and Harris SchoolMAX Student Information system. The work involves
coordinating physical and logical changes to the databases, database security,
backup/recovery, performance management, availability, maintenance and 24/7
support of these major Oracle enterprise systems. Need extensive hands-on
experience managing infrastructure and technologies involving Oracle E-Business
Suite (EBS), Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) and Oracle Identity &
Access Management.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Create
and/or maintain all databases and applications for development, testing,
training, and production use of the district’s enterprise applications and
technologies including Oracle E-Business Suite Rel 12, Harris SchoolMAX, Oracle
Identity Management, Oracle ApEx, Quest Stat ACM, and Oracle SOA Suite;
Ensure
proper technology stack configuration (OAM, Concurrent Processing, Workflow
Mailer, GCS, MWA, Forms Listener Servlet, etc) to support E-Business Suite
modules including Financials, HRMS / Payroll and Order Management;
Administer
Oracle E-Business Suite including patching & cloning of production and
development/test environments;
Assist
with impact analysis of Oracle Applications patches and works with development
team to ensure those areas of the application continue to work properly after
updates;
Perform
ongoing tuning and capacity planning of the database instances and
applications. Make appropriate infrastructure recommendations and changes necessary
for optimal performance;
Perform
reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are
being adhered to;
Perform
database re-organizations as required to improve/maintain performance and
ensure that the application uptime requirements are met;
Evaluate
releases of Oracle and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the
PGCPS is running the products that are most appropriate;
Plan
to ensure that any new product implementation or release upgrade takes place
with minimal impact;
Plan
and implement enterprise-wide database backup and disaster recovery procedures
for the Oracle applications and databases;
Manage
security, integrity, and availability of all Oracle systems. Secure internal
and external access to the Oracle E-Business Suite using node trust level
settings, URL Firewall, Integrigy AppDefender and Oracle Adaptive Access
Manager tools as appropriate;
Manage
the hardware load balancer configurations for the Oracle–based application
systems;
Manage
backup/recovery using tools such as OEM Grid Control, RMAN and Tivoli Storage
Manager;
Troubleshoot
problems with the databases, applications and development tools;
Develop
and maintain customization standards to ensure that all application design and
code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance criteria;
Control
migration of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu
changes to Oracle E-Business Suite Production environment using Quest/Dell STAT
Application Change Management;
Support
Noetix Global Views on an OBIEE platform;
Support
a tightly integrated environment where information is shared between systems
using custom interfaces, OIM, and SOA/BPEL; and
Perform
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Extensive
experience in administration, maintenance, installation and upgrades to Oracle
E-Business Suite Rel 12, Oracle RDBMS 11g/12c, Oracle Application Server 10g,
Oracle Weblogic 11g or later, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c, Quest/Dell Stat
ACM, FormScape, Harris SchoolMAX, Oracle Identity Management, and Red Hat
Enterprise Linux;
Experience
with Oracle Advanced Security option (TDE & Redaction), Oracle Data
Masking, Audit Vault and Database Firewall highly preferred;
Experience
with Oracle RAC & Data Guard preferred;
Experience
cloning Oracle Applications and Databases using RapidClone, RMAN, data pump,
and SAN Flash Copy techniques;
Experience
in backup and recovery procedures at the database and file system levels;
Experience
using IBM Tivoli with Oracle RDBMS for backups and restores;
Experience
using the Oracle EBS specific tools such as adadmin, adpatch, admerge,
adconfig, adrelink, etc;
Extensive
experience as a FormScape Administrator and Developer to produce Checks,
Invoices, POs, W2s from Oracle E-Business Suite;
Knowledge
of check formatting requirements and experience in producing compatible output
from a variety of MICR printers;
Experience
administering and tuning Oracle on Linux, and Windows environments;
Knowledge
of manufacturer-supplied operating systems programs and the ability to
optimally tune them to support the Oracle applications and technologies;
Considerable
knowledge of UNIX system administration and shell scripting;
Knowledge
of using SNMP to monitor various aspects of the systems;
Experience
with Windows software deployment techniques used to make desktop software
easily available to clients of the systems supported;
Thorough
knowledge of the latest programming methods, software capabilities and hardware
performance characteristics;
Experience
using Oracle Application Implementation (AIM) methodology or Oracle Unified
Method (OUM);
Experience
with configuring and supporting hardware load balancers in front of systems for
availability and scalability; Experience with F5 and/or Foundry ServerIron
preferred;
Experience
with Kerberos authentication from Unix systems to Windows Active Directory;
Ability
to analyze complex data systems/problems to achieve desired results;
Ability
to share knowledge with peers and mentor junior administrators;
Ability
to independently support the enterprise systems infrastructure and clients;
Ability
to communicate clearly and effectively in written and verbal form; and
Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and
outside agencies.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation
from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Science or Information Systems Management, or a related field; with six (6) years of
experience; a minimum of two (2) years experience as an Oracle Applications
DBA; experience with database Version 10g or later and applications release
11.5.10 or later; experience as a DBA in the public sector, preferably in a K12
environment.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Oracle Certified
Professional (OCP) DBA credentials preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
