POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Director of Business Applications, the Data Warehouse Supervisor will supervise a team of developers in the data warehouse reporting and analysis areas. The work involves moderate to full-range tasks in the analysis, design/development and testing of full range of data warehouse activities; applications must adhere to specified requirements, satisfy end-user needs and expectations, and meet the objectives of PGCPS.  The Date Warehouse Supervisor will work with staff to coordinate and develop relationships to ensure compliance, provide professional development opportunities and assist the Director as needed.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Provides leadership in developing full Data Warehouse life-cycle systems;

Collaborates with clients to understand requirements and translate to appropriate technical solution;

Creates and modifies Microstrategy BI dashboards, including advanced analytics, reports, dossiers, KPIs, scorecards, and mobile and visual insight dashboards;

Supervises a team of Data Warehouse developers;

Analyzes source data of different types and designs ETL components using Oracle Data Integrator (e.g. ODI Designer, ODI Topology Manager) and/or Informatica;

Supervises building simple and calculated measures for a fact table; creates dimension hierarchies and level-based measures; models aggregate tables/partitions/fragments to optimize application performance and usability;

Supervises the Data Warehouse model, dimensional data setup using ETL processes, BI report/dashboard setup, maintenance and administration;

Coordinates the design, development and implementation of Microstrategy’s BI software, including integration of required relational databases and associated processes;

Configures, schedules and delivers personalized alerts to interactive dashboards using Microstrategy services;

Analyzes the data needs of the school district to improve the efficiency of various programs;

Performs a wide variety of analysis including comparisons, trending and what-if analysis;

Prepares analyses, reports and presentations for executive management;

Supervises unit, system and integration testing for accuracy and performance;

Assists with and/or conducts training programs for analysts/developers, consultants and users;

Updates technical skills and knowledge through continuous self-study, self-discovery, tutorials, and classes; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Expertise in Oracle (11i/10g) relational database system, SQL, PL/SQL, SQL*Loader, SQL Plus and other Oracle Utilities;

Thorough understanding Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence (BI) technologies; experience with migrating fro OBIEE to Microstrategy is preferred;

Experience in enterprise level data modeling/analysis and life-cycle development methodology;

Experience using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI 12c) and the Microstrategy tool set, including Microstrategy developer, workstation, dossiers, Microstrategy Web, Microstrategy Integration Manager, Microstrategy desktop and Microstrategy Enterprise Manager’

Strong dashboard, report/alert development skills required; experience in developing requirement specifications, technical design and user training documents;

Experience with eScholar K-20 CDW strongly preferred; knowledge of eScholar Data Manager and Pitney Bowes Sagent ETL desirable;

Knowledge of, and ability to write interfaces between third party systems and Oracle E-Business Suite / SchoolMax Student Information System;

Familiarity with data access regulations such as FERPA desirable;

Experience with complex, large dataset analysis and ability to present complex data into simple user understandable visualizations;

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; and

Good communications skills to express business and technical concepts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.  A minimum of five (5) years of proven record of success as an Oracle Data Warehouse Manager; preferred candidates will have Oracle BI Suite – Enterprise Edition, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Data Integrator, Microstrategy and business process analysis.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


ODI, OBIEE and/or Microstrategy certification preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Oversees and provides guidance and direction to the department.
