POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Data Management Accountability and Strategy Lead, the Data Accountability Specialist, collects, manages, sorts and reports assessment and accountability results to appropriate stakeholders.  Data reporting may include national, state, and local assessment data; as well as enrollment, graduation, and other applicable data sets.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Prepares and publishes research briefs, statistical and technical reports, and presentations that clearly communicate to internal and external stakeholders the results of the school system research and data analysis;

Works with central offices, school-level users, and other stakeholders to identify data needs and report requirements;

Transforms complex school system data analyses into clear, concise, and accurate language that can be understood by people who may not be experts in these fields;

Designs, reviews and summarizes data and research results aligned with school system priorities;

Provides technical assistance to Prince George’s County Public School (PGCPS) offices, project teams, and schools on the design, implementation, analysis and presentation of results;

Locates, manages, and analyzes assessment and accountability data;

Collaborates with schools and central offices to communicate the reporting of student achievement and other data;

Reviews and edits reports for correct statistical interpretation and format;

Oversees file preparation, data analysis, and the regular reporting of strategic data points that monitor progress toward milestones in the PGCPS strategic plan; 

Performs data analysis with regard to requests;

Interprets and presents data to a variety of audiences in written and presentation formats;

Assists in the coordination and management of the school level data collection activities conducted by external evaluation agents on behalf of the school system; and

Performs other related duties as assigned.


 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Extensive knowledge and experience with current educational or social science research and evaluation methodologies;

Expertise in statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or STATA;

Experience with databases and database software such as SQL Developer, Toad, Filemaker Pro, Microsoft Access, etc.;

Computer literacy including proficiency with both Microsoft Office Suite and the Google Suite;

Skill in data presentation, analysis and evaluation, with experience working in a K-12 educational research environment;

Ability to interact effectively with school officials, legal representatives, community groups, employees, and others;

Ability to communicate technical information in a way that is understandable to stakeholders without technical training;

Demonstrated customer service skills with leadership ability;

Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced work environment and under tight deadlines;

Excellent organizational skills, competent, and detail-oriented; and

Excellent written and oral communications skills.


 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational research, communication, psychology, sociology, evaluation measurement or a closely related field required, with intensive course work in research methodology, measurement, and/or evaluation; Master’s preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


Highly demanding and fast-paced environment; frequently required to work long hours. Annual leave may be limited during specified timeframes. Local and non-local travel may be required. Employees may be required to work beyond their normally scheduled hours with little or no advanced notice. Work schedules may include nights and weekends.
