POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor – College Readiness, the Coordinator – College Readiness will work with school personnel to achieve the goals and objectives of increasing the number of students who graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education and/or employment. The incumbent of this position will also work with school, community and business partners to coordinate activities and ensure overall success of the programs

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Collaborates with school personnel to develop a college readiness program; assists in the creation of a coherent vision for the multiple student support programs;

 

Provides leadership, monitors and supports the PGCPS dual enrollment program to include advising students;

Serves as a liaison between college access organizations and PGCPS schools;

Facilitates post-secondary planning with students and parents; provides student and family support and referrals as needed; disseminates information to students and families;

Coordinates collaborative partnerships and manages relationships with colleges, universities, businesses and military representatives;

Facilitates regular meetings with school-based personnel to ensure that program activities are executed and that objectives are achieved;

Collects and manages college ready data to include, but not limited to records of attendance and participation in all program activities and events;

Provides leadership in the planning, monitoring and use of effective best practices in increasing student college preparation and matriculation rates;

Ensures compliance with any grant and externally supported college readiness programs;

Provides leadership in the planning, monitoring and use of effective best practices to increase student graduation, college matriculation and certification pass rates; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge of college readiness processes, technology and supports;

 

Experience managing service delivery across multiple partners in a school or community-based setting;

Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;

Proven ability to lead, motivate and stimulate staff and/or external partners to meet performance targets;

A strategic and responsible decision-maker who displays consistent follow-through in meeting goals and achieving measurable results;

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;

Ability to work independently and is a self-starter;

Ability to keep abreast of new guidelines, emerging trends and best practices related to college preparedness and support programs;

Knowledge of electronic data collection and ability to utilize technology; experience with Naviance preferred;

Ability to provide communication that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;

Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school system staff; and

Experience with public speaking, facilitation, and team building.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, public administration, social work or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of three (3) years of experience in career counseling, college access, college and career advising, and/or workforce development.



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
