POSITION SUMMARY:
Under
the direction of the Instructional Supervisor, the Adolescent Single Parent
Program Specialist supports, monitors and oversees the implementation of
program goals executed by Adolescent Single Parent Liaisons. Overall
responsibilities include planning, monitoring and implementing a quality
Adolescent Single Parent Program (ASPP) by which pregnant and parenting
students have adequate access to child rearing information, training, resources
and support services.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assists
and supports the Instructional Supervisor by overseeing the day-to-day
operation and implementation of the Adolescent Single Parent Program throughout
the district;
Conducts
regular school visits to monitor and support Adolescent Single Parent Liaisons,
assess students’ needs and monitor program implementation;
Prepares
grant documentation for program funding on an annual basis and submits
quarterly reports as required;
Collaborates
with stakeholders and service providers to identify resources for teen parents
and their families;
Oversees
the facilitation of training workshops for pregnant and parenting students and
the custodial parents of adolescents;
Monitors
the documentation and records of students and submits yearly program progress
evaluations;
Monitors
the crisis intervention referrals submitted to the Department of Social
Services and/or resource providers on behalf of adolescent parents;
Provides
guidance and coaching to Adolescent Single Parent Liaisons in the areas of teen
counseling and available support services;
Educates
the public about program objectives, goals and activities;
Collects
and maintains accurate data for analysis, evaluation and program improvement;
and
Performs
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge
of responsive counseling and crisis intervention techniques;
Knowledge
of local, state and federal resources for pregnant and parenting adolescents;
Effective
interpersonal and human relations skills;
Demonstrated
competency with counseling strategies and approaches;
Effective
oral and written communication skills.
Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders;
Ability
to organize and prioritize the many aspects of the position;
Ability
to mentor, coach and support the learning and effectiveness of the Adolescent
Single Parent Liaisons; and
Ability
to maintain central record system and to prepare reports for research data.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
college or university in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field
required. A minimum of three (3) years
of successful experience working with adolescent parents and their families.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees
and provides guidance to program personnel.
