POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Accounting Technician is responsible for performing responsible work in the fiscal administration and implementation of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Office.  This position performs other related work as required.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Gathering and evaluating budgetary data;

Monitoring monthly site reports;

Providing training and directions concerning financial record keeping, audit preparation, proper tuition collection, enforcement of policies, and special payment arrangements;

Automating records and program financial data;

Processing Oracle orders;

Monitoring the validity of Tuition Deposit Paperwork and data entry Validated Deposit Ticket Transmittals;

Establishing the accuracy of purchase orders; verifying the budget status of the purchase and does data entry of purchase orders;

Maintaining a filing system to accommodate purchase orders, disbursement authorities, Validated Deposit Ticket Transmittals and their associated documentation;

Assisting in obtaining Department of Human Resources, Child Care Administration licenses for new programs prior to start-up; and

Performing related work as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Good working knowledge of modern principles and practices of business management;

Ability to develop effective work standards;

Ability to act as a liaison;

Ability to maintain central record system and to prepare reports from research data;

High degree of aptitude for arithmetical and statistical computations;

Excellent skills in human relations and communication; and

Ability to deal effectively with personnel both internal and external to the school.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

High School diploma supplemented by college level coursework in accounting, administration, finance, or budget is preferred; or any applicable fieldwork experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
