POSITION SUMMARY:
The Account Clerk III
performs work involving the performance of complex, highly difficult and responsible
tasks of a sub-professional accounting nature.
These tasks are varied and include importing, auditing, posting and balancing
of accounts payable transactions to appropriate fund and appropriation accounts;
preparation of audit and control reports; control of disbursement authorities, food
service quick invoices, travel reimbursements, iExpense
submissions, and other related and similar activities.
Employees
in this class may serve as the final check on numerous financial
transactions. Work is performed within
the limits of an established accounting system with considerable independence
under general supervision and is reviewed by a technical superior for adherence
to established accounting system requirements. The complex and highly responsible
duties of this class, supervisory responsibilities and performance of tasks
under general supervision, mainly limited to review of reports for adherence to
established procedures, differentiate this class from Account Clerk II.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Post invoice batches to proper funds,
appropriations, activities and objects;
Prepare monthly performance reports and
assist in the preparation of end of month performance reports;
Import, prepare and post accounts payable
transactions from other systems;
Reconcile source documents with reimbursement
requests;
Prepare adjustment documents;
Audit batches, registers and related documents;
Organize and format approved batches for
payment in Oracle Payables;
Pre-audit invoice and payment runs based
on AP Forensics input; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Thorough knowledge of clerical
accounting practices;
Thorough knowledge of office
terminology, procedures and equipment and of business arithmetic and English;
Ability to maintain complex records and
to prepare other reports and statements;
Ability to make arithmetical
computations quickly and accurately, including the ability to understand and
follow complex oral and written instructions;
Ability to operate adding machines and computers;
Ability to deal courteously and
tactfully with the public; and
Ability to plan and supervise the work
of others; good physical condition.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Considerable experience in bookkeeping and related clerical
work at the level of Account Clerk II, including experience in preparing
financial reports, and completion of a standard high school course, preferably
including or supplemented by college level courses in accounting; or any
equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities.

May provide guidance and direction to assigned personnel.
