POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Account Clerk II performs difficult clerical tasks involving the application of bookkeeping principles and/or account keeping practices to the maintenance of financial accounts and records.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Reviewing invoice batches for invoices that can be corrected and processed;

Issuing written letters to schools/offices regarding actions needed to resolve invoices on hold;

Issuing written letters to vendors regarding invoice disputes and/or actions needed;

Provide records, requests, faxes and transmittal correspondence regarding any differences in source documents, account posting and balances;

Prepare routine financial correspondence, as requested by Supervisor;

Reviewing the hold files to follow up on unresolved issues;

Reviewing the hold file once a month for follow up and second/third request;

Reviewing batches and addressing within one week of receipt;

Reviewing invoices submitted to the Treasury Desk by close of business each day and/or returned to a centralized file of batches to be reviewed; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Knowledge of modern clerical account keeping practices;

Knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment and business arithmetic and English;

Familiarity with operation of bookkeeping or accounting practices desirable;

Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions;

Ability to create an Excel spreadsheet;

Ability to write legibly;

Ability to get along well with others;

Good customer service skills; and

Knowledge of Oracle preferred.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

High school graduate with at least one to three years accounts payable experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
