POSITION SUMMARY:
The Account Clerk I position performs
moderately difficult clerical, fiscal related and data entry tasks by
processing transactions and recording accounting related information under
general supervision. The Account Clerk I follows established procedures while
exercising judgment to perform clerical operations. The work may require the
preparation of regular and special financial reports.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Enters, verifies, and balances cash
receipt batches;
Sorts and files posted transactions;
Researches financial discrepancies;
Scans all accounting journal entries that
are posted in Oracle and required documents to shared drive folders for staff to
access;
Scans all account reconciliations
prepared by the Accountants to shared drive folders for staff to access;
Provides clerical assistance to all
office staff as needed;
Receives and assists telephone callers on
main office telephone line, and directs callers to appropriate staff or
offices,
Communicates with Printing staff to resolve
copier issues and obtain needed copier supplies;
Maintains the staff office calendar to
coordinate and arrange staff office meetings; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of clerical and accounting practices
and principles;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
and Oracle;
Knowledge of accounting and financial
reporting terminology;
Knowledge of office procedures and equipment;
Knowledge of bookkeeping or
accounting software;
Ability to understand simple oral and
written instructions;
Ability to write legibly;
Ability to work well with others; and
Exercise mental alertness, tact, and
courtesy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required with some clerical and
accounting experience, including or supplemented by course work in data entry, bookkeeping
and accounting.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
None Required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
