POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Resource
Teacher will provide intensive instructional support to teachers. Collaborates
with the school administration to plan and conduct staff development programs
to promote instructional and programmatic improvements. The incumbent will be
responsible for providing professional development for teachers. Essential
components to this position are the possession of organizational skills and the
ability to communicate effectively with others.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Monitor student
achievement through the use of quarterly milestone and other formative data;
Assist in data
analysis and utilization to assist school leaders in data-driven
decision-making;
Assist the school
administration in planning and conducting staff development activities that
focus on the use of data and assessment to enhance learning and collaborative
instructional planning;
Support classroom
teachers in building capacity to utilize effective instructional strategies;
Attend professional
meetings and participate in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences, as
necessary;
Supports and monitors
the use of instructional data by school personnel to ensure critical capacity
that leads to the highest level of effectiveness and sustainability;
Assists school
personnel interpreting and using assessment data reports;
Participates and
provides professional development opportunities for teachers in the use of data
in the classroom;
Attend professional
meetings and participate in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences, as
necessary; and
Perform other duties
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge
of assessment and instruction, intervention strategies, goals and objectives of
the curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of
instruction;
Excellent knowledge
and understanding of the teaching and learning process;
Considerable
knowledge of effective instruction approaches and strategies, as well as
thorough understanding of instructional programs in Prince George’s County
Public Schools;
Ability
to work with diverse populations on a community college campus;
Knowledge of school
organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current
trends, research, and materials of instruction in field of specialization;
Ability to
effectively implement PGCPS and PGCC curricula with the ability to make
appropriate modifications that will lead to rigorous college ready instruction;
Ability to infuse
technology into curriculum; and
Excellent
communication skills, verbal and written.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university and five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A Professional Certificate (Advanced Professional Certificate preferred) appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
