POSITION SUMMARY:


The Academic Facilitator reports to the Principal of the school assigned and is responsible for conducting demonstration lessons and models strategies and teaching techniques, provides intensive instructional support and mentoring to new teachers. Collaborates with the Principal to plan and conduct staff development programs to promote instructional and programmatic improvements, provides professional development to teachers in the use of selected instructional programs.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Works in partnership with the school Principal to provide instructionally-related services to the school;

Provides assistance to teachers who are engaged in learning and practicing new skills;

Facilitates group learning with teams of teachers and works cooperatively designing and implementing data driven action research projects within the school;

Initiates, provides leadership for, and/or participates in curriculum development for the school assigned and provides leadership in the implementation of and evaluation of curriculum, K-12, as set forth by the Principal;

Disseminates information pertinent to professional growth, curriculum trends, student activities, and special awards to enhance student achievement;

Assists with the selection of instructional materials and equipment to ensure that purchases are supportive and in alignment with the school improvement plan, approved initiatives, and the Strategic Plan;

Provides training school wide and leads/ co-leads the data team in the different types of data to make timely and appropriate decisions about curriculum, assessment and instruction;

Supports and monitors the use of instructional data by school personnel to ensure critical capacity that leads to the highest level of effectiveness and sustainability;

Assists school personnel interpreting and using assessment data reports;

Participates and provides professional development opportunities for teachers in the use of data in the classroom; and

Participates with the principal in the formal observation and evaluation of teachers and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of assistance plans.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Considerable knowledge of effective instruction approaches and strategies;

A thorough understanding of instructional programs in Prince George's County Imagine Schools;

Demonstrated skill in effective human relations; and

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Master's degree from an accredited institution required; four (4) years successful teaching experience, including experience working with peers in instructional setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Advanced Professional Certificate; Administrator I endorsement

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

Supervises all school-based staff at the direction of the Principal and/or in the absence of the Principal.
