    Learn more about the 3D Scholar Program during the fall open house. Potential 3D Scholars must: be PGCPS 9th, 10th or 11th-graders by September 2018; have a 2.5 cumulative GPA; meet minimum score requirements for each grade level on PSAT, Accuplacer, SAT or ACT; and demonstrate characteristics that help predict future success with college-level work. 



    3D Scholars Program Application is now online, and the window will open October 11th.

    The Prince Georges 3D Scholars Program is a specialized program through which students earn credits towards an associate's degree while in high school, then immediately transition to Prince George's Community College (PGCC)  to complete their associates degree, and are then awarded a scholarship to University of Maryland University College (UMUC) to earn their bachelor's degree. Available courses of study: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Computer Networks and Cybersecurity. The name "3D" stands for the three degrees earned in the program; high school diploma (PGCPS), associate's degree (PGCPS), bachelor's degree (UMUC). Only 50 seats are available for incoming 9th graders. The seats for grades 10th and 11th are based on availability. Qualifying applicants will be screened by the strength of application packet and selected by lottery.

    There are a few requirements for students applying for entrance during the 2018-19 School Year. Students must complete the application process by acquiring the following:

    1) Eligible students must demonstrate proficiency on the PSAT exam

    2) Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA determined as below

         Grade 8 (English, Math, Science, Social Studies grades each quarter of Grade 7 and first quarter Grade 8)

         Grade 9 (English, Math, Science, Social Studies grades each quarter of Grade 8 and first quarter Grade 9)

        Grade 10 (cumulative GPA)

    3) Student must complete the 3D Scholar application (google form)

    4) Students must submit a 500 word essay, it should include:

        a Why do you want to attend Prince George’s Community College and University of Maryland    University College?

        b)Why would you excel in a hybrid face-to-face and online program?  

    5) Applicants must obtain two teacher recommendations.  Please have teacher name and professional (ex. john.doe@pgcps.org) email address available.  Teachers will be prompted in a separate correspondence to complete an online recommendation

       Deadline to apply is November 16, 2018

    **Please have all available information ready before starting the online application.  The application must be submitted once it is started, there is NOT an option to save and return at a later date.

    Students eligible for dual enrollment will need to have a combine score of 169 on two out of three subtest areas. The sliding scale will still represent the baseline score requirement for one of the areas. The student must meet the minimum requirement with 79 in reading or a 90 in writing in order to officially take dual enrollment course.
