    GPA: 3.7

    My’a, an aspiring anesthesiologist, is enrolled in the Applied Health and Biomedical Science Academy. Her interest in the medical field started at the age of seven and has grown over the years.

    My’a has taken Advanced Placement Language and English 9, English 10, Biology, Chemistry and World History Honors classes. She has been on the principal’s honor roll for six consecutive quarters.

    My’a is a member of the National, Math and English Honor Societies, Science Club, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Delta Gems and the College Summit Leadership Program. She has volunteered at the Prince George’s County and Delta Gems Food Bank and Special Olympics.  She enjoys singing and was a specialized defense volleyball player.

    In the fall, she will attend Hampton University and major in biology pre-med.

     

    Drew CalhounParkdale High School GPA: 4.0

    Drew is enrolled in the Homeland Security Academy at Parkdale High School, with a focus on both Homeland Security Sciences and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) map-making.

    She is interested in studying forensic science and has pending applications at The George Washington University, Loyola University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Mount St. Mary's University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. 


    Drew, who is captain of the girls basketball team, received the academic and MVP award for her performance. As a freshman and sophomore player, she was All-Met Honorable Mention.
