    Lauren Thomas

    Frederick Douglass High School

    GPA: 4.079

     

    Lauren is a student in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Her course load includes Advance Placement Government and the following IB classes: History of Americans, Spanish A/B, Dance, Language and Literature, Theory of Knowledge and Biology.

     

    Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government Association, Dance Team, Volleyball, Photography Club, and IB Ambassadors. She has also participated in the Best Buddies Disabilities Program.

     

    Lauren has pending applications at the University of Maryland College Park, Towson University, Virginia Commonwealth University and American University. She wishes to major in mass communications and minor in visual and media arts.

     

    She loves to draw and paint and won first place in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Arts and Science Competition.

     
     
     

    Destiny Washington

    Surrattsville High School

    GPA: 3.5

     

    Destiny is a student in the Law, Education, and Public Service Academy and takes two Advanced Placement courses: Language and Government.

     

    Destiny is a member of the basketball team and was awarded the most improved player in 2015.

     

    Destiny has been accepted to Johnson and Wales University and offered an $11,000 scholarship. She plans to major in sports management. She also wishes to start a foundation that hosts basketball camps for urban youth.

     

    After school, Destiny works as an aftercare aide at Indian Head Elementary School.
