    Name: Matthew Kegley

    Cumulative GPA: 4.27

    Academics: Matthew has taken numerous AP and college level courses including AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, Calculus III, Differential Equations, AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Research Practicum, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Spanish Language and Culture.

    Extracurricular Activities: Matthew is involved in several extracurricular activities. He is a Trombonist for ERHS Pep Band (Won 1st Place Marching Band in Bowie Parade), ERHS Jazz Band, and ERHS Full Orchestra, as well as a Pianist for ERHS Pit Orchestra. He is also the President of the National Honor Society, a member of the ERHS Swim Team, and the 2014 Team Co-Captain for the Chesapeake American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) Team. In addition, Matthew has a neurobiology internship at the University of Maryland-College Park's Araneda Lab and works as a swim instructor at the KIDS First Swim School in Bowie, Maryland.

    Future Plans: Matthew has applied to Princeton, Yale, the University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, the Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland-College Park. He would like to pursue a career in Bioengineering or Neuroscience and become heavily involved in biomedical/neuroscience research. After college he hopes to become a medical doctor.

    Interesting Notes: Matthew has received a number of awards during his academic career including the Cornell Book Award (2013-2014), College Board's AP Scholar with Distinction, Chesapeake Math Department Work-Study Scholarship, Bowie Elks Lodge Scholarship, Most Valuable Band Member, and Prince George's Honor Band Student.
