The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program recognizes the importance of honoring excellent teaching and promoting STEM education, and as a school leader, we know that you feel the same way. Today we are pleased to announce that the 2017-2018 nomination and application cycle for K-6thgrade mathematics and science teachers has officially opened. We would like to enlist your help to increase awareness of this prestigious award among teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science) in your area before our April 1, 2018 nomination deadline.

PAEMST, a White House program administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is the nation’s highest honor for K-12 teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science). Awardees receive a trip to Washington, D.C., a certificate signed by the President, and a $10,000 award from NSF. To be eligible in 2017, teachers must be full-time employees of a school or school district, teach at the K-6th grade level at least fifty percent of the day, and have at least five years of K-12 teaching experience prior to this school year.

You can join us in honoring exceptional teachers by spreading the word about PAEMST to your faculty. Encouraging them to apply and nominate other deserving teachers will help give every talented educator in your district a chance to be considered for recognition. We recommend doing so in the following ways:

    • Nominate K-6th grade mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers within your district at www.paemst.org today
    • Create a place for PAEMST content on your school or district website

We look forward to the prospect of working with you to recognize and honor superb STEM educators in your area. Thank you for your support and assistance. It only takes a minute to submit a nomination, and it could change a teacher’s life forever.

Should you have any questions about the program or the nomination process feel free to contact us!

    Best regards,

    The PAEMST Team

THANK YOU for helping make our Hoops for Heart event a great success!

Your efforts will allow the American Heart Association (AHA) to continue their lifesaving mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases.

On November 20th, and November 21st approximately 600 Buck Lodge students participated in Hoops for Heart.

The P.E. students donated a total $589.15 in support of the AHA mission statement.
